The NEET (UG) 2025 serves as the gateway for admissions into MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS courses across India. This national-level exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the guidelines of the respective medical regulatory bodies.

Who Conducts NEET (UG) 2025?

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) has been conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019, with approval from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, for admission to undergraduate medical programs across India.

The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI) established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous, and self-sustained premier testing organization under the Societies Registration Act (1860). The NTA aims to conduct fair, transparent, and standardized assessments to evaluate candidates' competency for admission into top higher education institutions.

NTA focuses on quality, efficiency, fairness, and security in all its assessments.

NEET (UG) 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria for NEET (UG) 2025, including age, educational qualifications, and nationality, to appear for the exam. Ensure that you meet all requirements before applying.

Nationality: Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply.
Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31, 2025. No upper age limit as per the Supreme Court’s order.
Educational Qualification: Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
Minimum Marks in Qualifying Exam:
  • General Category: 50%
  • OBC/SC/ST: 40%
  • PWD Candidates: 45%
Number of Attempts: No limit on the number of attempts.
Year of Passing: Candidates appearing for their qualifying exam in 2025 are also eligible to apply.

NEET (UG) 2025 Exam Pattern

The NEET (UG) 2025 exam will follow a revised pattern, returning to the pre-COVID format. The exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode (OMR-based), where candidates will mark their answers on an OMR sheet.

The test comprises 180 mandatory multiple-choice questions (MCQs), distributed as follows:

  • Physics: 45 questions
  • Chemistry: 45 questions
  • Biology: 90 questions (Botany: 45 & Zoology: 45)

The total duration of the exam is 180 minutes (3 hours). Each correct answer is awarded +4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. Unattempted questions carry no penalty.

Note: NEET UG 2025 removes Section B (optional questions), making all 180 questions mandatory.

Examination Scheme

The NEET (UG) 2025 exam pattern consists of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology). As per the public notice dated 25.01.2025, NEET (UG) 2025 will revert to the pre-COVID pattern.

The question paper will have 180 compulsory questions, to be attempted in 180 minutes. These updates are officially included in the NEET (UG) 2025 test pattern.

Note: NEET UG 2025 eliminates Section B (optional questions). Candidates must attempt all 180 questions.
