Important information of KEAM 2025

Basic Information of KEAM 2025

Admission to Engineering Courses in Kerala is determined through the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination (KEAM), conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala.

Engineering Rank Calculation: The final rank list is prepared based on a 50:50 weightage system.
  • 50% Weightage: Normalized score obtained in the Entrance Examination (as per Clause 9.4.4(i)).
  • 50% Weightage: Standardized marks from the final year qualifying examination in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (Clause 9.7.4(b)(iii) in the KEAM-2025 Prospectus).

KEAM 2025 Exam Eligibility Criteria

The KEAM 2025 Eligibility Criteria outlines the key requirements for applicants, including citizenship, nativity, age limit, and educational qualifications.

Citizenship

Only Indian citizens are eligible for admission. However, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders will be treated at par with Indian citizens for admission purposes, as per the Supreme Court ruling (WP(C) 891/2021 dated 03.02.2023) and Government Order (G.O(Rt)No.1620/2023/HEdn dated 01.11.2023).

PIO/OCI candidates are not eligible for any reservation benefits.

Nativity

Candidates will be classified into the following categories:

  • Keralite: Candidates of Kerala origin.
  • Non-Keralite Category I (NK I): Non-Keralite candidates eligible for specific reservations.
  • Non-Keralite Category II (NK II): All other non-Keralite candidates.
Age Criteria
  • Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2025.
  • No upper age limit for Engineering courses.
Educational Qualification

To be eligible, candidates must have passed:

  • Higher Secondary Examination (Kerala) or an equivalent exam.
  • Mandatory subjects: Physics and Mathematics.
  • Optional subject: Chemistry (or Computer Science, if Chemistry was not studied).
  • Minimum requirement: 45% aggregate marks in these subjects.
Note: Candidates must meet all eligibility conditions to apply for KEAM 2025.

Examination Scheme

The KEAM 2025 Engineering Entrance Examination follows an objective format with multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

  • The exam consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with a single correct response.
  • Each question has five answer choices, but only one is the correct response.
  • The exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple sessions.
Question Distribution
Subject Number of Questions
Mathematics 75
Physics 45
Chemistry 30

Total Duration: 180 minutes

Marking Scheme
  • +4 marks for each correct response.
  • -1 mark for each incorrect response.
  • No marks deducted for unanswered questions.
Note: Candidates must carefully select their answers, as negative marking applies.

Guidelines for CBT Test

The KEAM 2025 Computer-Based Test (CBT) follows a structured pattern. Below are important guidelines for candidates.

  • After facial image capture, candidates will be assigned seats in the computer lab.
  • The allotted seat number will be displayed on the bottom-left corner of the login screen. Verify that it matches your assigned seat.
  • Candidates must enter their roll number using the virtual keyboard and mouse on the login screen.
  • After entering the roll number, click Submit to log in.
  • A secret code will be provided in the exam hall, which must be entered after roll number validation.
  • Once logged in, candidates will see the General Instructions page displaying their Name, Roll Number, and Photo.
  • A Mock Test session will be available 15 minutes before the exam for practice.
  • A countdown timer at the top right corner will indicate the time left for the Mock Test.
  • Once the timer reaches zero, the page will automatically redirect to the Mock Test.
  • After completing the Mock Test, candidates will proceed to the actual exam.
  • The exam screen will display an information panel showing total questions, answered questions, and remaining time.
  • Questions will be displayed one at a time with multiple-choice options.
  • Candidates must select their answers using the mouse.
  • When the timer reaches zero, the test will automatically redirect to the "Exam Statistics" page, summarizing the candidate’s performance.
  • After viewing the statistics page, candidates may leave the exam hallβ€”no need to submit manually.
Note: Ensure you arrive early and follow all invigilator instructions for a smooth examination experience.
